Boron and Zinc Deficiency Prevalence and Management in the Foothills
Lynn Wunderlich, UCCE Central Sierra Farm Advisor, has provided some timely information on boron and zinc deficiency, which seems prevalent this year and is also quite common across the foothills.
This timely information may be found on Lynn’s website here: https://ucanr.edu/sites/CentralSierraAg/Winegrapes/Grapevine_Nutrition/
Keep in mind that if nutrients are soil applied in spring, but we don’t have enough rainfall or irrigation to effectively carry them to roots, deficiencies can occur (even though applications were made). I call these “drought-induced deficiencies”.
Lynn cautions to please remember to be careful with B applications as toxicity can occur if too much is applied.
